With lots of information being passed around all the time, it is difficult to distinguish facts from fiction and half-truths. We’re here to fix that. So, we assembled the most frequently used statements about Bolt to bust the myths and reinforce the truths.
This is absolutely false as rider discounts have absolutely NO impact on driver earnings.
Whether the discount is 15%, 50% or even 100%, drivers will get the full value of the ride as Bolt covers the cost of the discount. You don’t have to worry about lower earnings as you’ll still receive the full ride fare and, since discounts bring in more riders, overall earnings actually go up.
This is also FALSE. Why? Because more active drivers on our platform bring shorter wait times to the riders and that leads to more affordable prices. The result? More people using Bolt for their urban travels, which translates to higher earnings for Bolt drivers! We’ve tested this approach in more than 35 countries across the globe and know that it works!
Riders get better prices, drivers get higher earnings. It’s a win-win for everyone!

Whether the fare is lower or higher than the expected price, our drivers can request a price review. Once a price review is requested and the journey is evaluated, the sum will immediately be adjusted and the driver will be compensated accordingly.

At Bolt, a payment cycle runs from Monday 00:00 to the following Sunday at 23:59. All drivers will receive their earnings in the first half of the week. Drivers will only get paid for their previous week card trips if they have settled all their commissions and still have a positive ending balance.
Card trips will appear as Bolt Payment or In-app Payment on the app and in your balances.
